New Haven Housing Authority Boiler Conversion

Crawford Manor and Winslow Celentano, New Haven, CT

This project involved the design for replacement of the heating generation system at Crawford Manor and Windslow Celentano, two separate high rise residential towers for the Housing Authority of the City of New Haven.

The Housing Authority was experiencing problems with the operations of the space and domestic water heating systems at these two complexes. They had a limited budget and some of the equipment was not that old but was just not operating properly. Aztech first investigated the original installation then worked with the manufacturers to determined what would be required to improve operation. Some of the equipment needed only minor modifications to greatly increase performance. Improved cleaner combustion air and reconfigured controls solved a major problem. Other older equipment was replaced. The clients objectives were met with overall improved operation within a tight budget providing heating systems for the foreseeable future. This approach also allowed them to keep the building and systems completely operational while the work progressed.

Aztech Engineers, Inc. was able to assist the Housing Authority stay within the confines of its very strict budget by providing cost estimates during the Schematic Phase that proved to be accurate at bid time.
