Suffield Academy a private preparatory school in Suffield Connecticut, was planning to build a dormitory. At the same time they realized the their health care facilities were undersized and outdated. While Aztech Engineers was working on the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design for a new 18,000 square foot dormitory, it was decided that 6,000 square feet of space in the basement that had not been allocated, would be a good place to move and expand the Health Center into.

Aztech Engineers then, within a tight timeframe, and adhering to the tight project budget, designed the MEP systems for the 6,000 square foot Health Center which included overnight stay, isolation and examination rooms, nurses station, offices and conference rooms. The designed dorms mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were modified to serve the Health Center. The basement had very low ceiling height. Careful coordination and creative system distribution rooting was required to fit in the MEP systems while allowing for maximum occupant ceiling height.

The Health Center has ten private rooms along with examination rooms offices and a nurses station. Each private room is separately zoned controlled by a direct digital control system that is tied into a campus wide control system.
