Snipsic Village Community Center, Ellington Housing Authority

This project involved additions and renovations to the community center for an elderly housing complex. The community space was increased and enhanced, office and meeting space was added with a separate entrance to highlight the improved community center building. Indirect lighting and exposed ductwork were used so the mechanical systems would work into the spaces aesthetic considerations.

Both the building electrical system and HVAC system were upgraded for the expansion of the additional air conditioning loads. Because of the substantial outside air requirement, an air-to-air heat exchanger was used to pre-condition the outside air that feeds the HVAC system, this reduced the heating & cooling requirements, saving energy and reducing operating cost as well as associated system capacities.
